Motorola Solutions WAVE-On-Cloud has now been rebranded to WAVE PTX and with it comes a new suite of great features including video streaming, emergency call and remote monitor.
Also launched is the new SafeGuard subscription options for enhanced features and connectivity.
Subscriptions
The following table shows how the subscriptions are translating to the new WAVE PTX portfolio. Note that the new SafeGuard features are only available on the subscriptions that also have the LMR connection to a MOTOTRBO radio system. Also note that the video streaming subscriptions are in addition to base subscriptions

SafeGuard Features
The new SafeGuard features provide a range of enhancements to the WAVE PTX system and are explained as follows. These features are available when purchasing the WAVE SafeGuard subscriptions only.
Dispatcher Upgrades
There are 2 main upgrades for the Disptcher as follows:
- Location based temporary talk groups that allows users to leave and join the temporary group as they move in and out of a defined geographic area.
- Request streaming video from users with a 'confirmed' or 'unconfirmed' pull.
WAVE PTX Back-Up Subscriber
For MOTOTRBO radios that have WIFI capability activated (MOTOTRBO '01e' Versions), it is now possible to have them working on both radio system and WAVE PTX by adding the WAVE PTX Backup Subscriber licence to the MOTOTRBO radio.
Features supported:
- WAVE PTX Group Call -initiate and receive calls.
- WAVE PTX Private Call -receive calls
- WAVE PTX Presence -“available” or “offline”
- WAVE PTX Location -radios send GPS location
LMR Interop via WAVE PTX Radio Gateway
- Users who lose coverage on LMR can switch to WAVE PTX and be in contact with the same LMR talkgroups and users
- Users who are in LMR coverage can make contact with WAVE PTX users
(Note that currently the switch between DMR and WAVE networks is manually done on the MOTOTRBO radio.
WAVE PTX Supported Systems for LMR
The following systems can connect to WAVE PTX using the Wave Gateway.
- MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus (single-or multi-site)
- MOTOTRBO Capacity Max
Motorola will shortly be launching a Multi-Tennant Wave radio gateway service that will also allow WAVE PTX connection to the following Motorola systems, in addition. This service will not require the Gateway. More infomration will follow on this in due course.
- MOTOTRBO IP Site Connect
- DIMETRA Express
Streaming Video Overview
The Streaming Video feature is activated by additional subscription for mobile App users or Dispatcher users and can be applied to Standard or SafeGuard licences. This great feature opens up some great applications for WAVE PTX.
- Push Video –mobile user initiated streaming
- Pull Video –dispatcher initiated video
- Video streamed to individuals, defined groups, or ad hoc groups
- Simultaneously stream video and initiate/receive PTT calls
WM500 Remote Microphone
Motorola Solutions has also made available the WM500 bluetooth microphone that can be used in conjunction with POC devices.
